Praise of the Paschal Candle

The article presents the theological, liturgical, and historical significance of the Paschal candle in the liturgy of the Easter Vigil. The Paschal candle is presented as one of the most important symbols of the Risen Christ and as a sign of the light that overcomes the darkness of sin and death. The article discusses the biblical and Jewish roots of the symbolism of light, the development of the Christian liturgy of light, the history and theology of the Paschal Proclamation (Exsultet), as well as the symbolism of the Paschal candle itself and its significance in pastoral ministry. The Paschal candle is shown not only as an element of the liturgy, but also as a sign that leads believers to a deeper understanding of the Paschal Mystery and Christian life.
