The article engages in a dogmatic discussion of the biblical foundations of the liturgical and extra-liturgical practice of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The first part of the discussion compares the perspectives on the Real Presence of Christ in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, as expressed in the words of institution, “Take and eat” (Matthew 26:26), among three selected Christian denominations: Catholic, Calvinist, and Lutheran. The second part of the discussion constitutes a dogmatic and biblical examination of the foundations of the Catholic Church’s position on the validity of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, in light of Christ’s words in response to his disciples’ question about his dwelling place: “Come and see” (John 1:39).
